STUDENT SERVICES
Academic Advising
GRAPCEP students work with the Creston High School counselors for many purposes. However, as hard as these counselors work, they are responsible for a large number of students. To ensure better access and service for GRAPCEP students, we have academic advisors specifically hired to work with students in the small school. The advisors cooperate with the Creston High School Staff on all matters, but increase student access to academic advisement, academic support or intervention, college selection, and other matters related to their success in school.
Academic Workshops
Students without home access to a computer for school purposes or who need some extra help in a particular subject can attend before or after school academic workshops. Morning academic workshop is conducted Monday through Friday from 7:00 - 7:35 AM. Afternoon academic workshop occurs Wednesday through Thursday from 2:45 - 4:00 PM. Students with hub classes may attend academic workshop Monday and Friday from 1:40-2:35 PM. (Must be present when bell rings and stay until the end of the period
Personal Communication Skills
GRAPCEP students are preparing for entry into the professional work setting. As students in the school they will occasion to interact with professionals in the field. Students will also have opportunities to compete with other students in the school and sometimes across the state for admission to special programs. Frequently, GRAPCEP students are asked to make professional level presentations about what they have learned, a project they have completed, or an experience they have had as part of the program. To prepare students for these experiences teachers and GRAPCEP staff work with students on professional communications for:

Career Awareness
Our school has a focus upon engineering, biomedical research, and the related technical or scientific careers. Our students receive information about these career fields, and research different areas of the engineering and biomedical fields. Additionally, GRAPCEP provides students with opportunities to interact with professionals currently working in these areas and visit academic settings, companies, and research facilities.
Summer Camps and Programs
Learning isn’t limited to September through May. The summer months are opportunities for students to relax and have a change of pace, but they are also opportunities to continue learning. For that reason, GRAPCEP students are encouraged to continue their involvement as learners during the summer months. Students and their families are given information about summer camps each spring. An application process then takes place, as opportunities may be limited.
GRAPCEP Internships
Available only to students in the GRAPCEP School students these paid summer internships place students who have completed their junior year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Internships place students with mentors for eight weeks in some of the best engineering and research centers in the country located right here in Grand Rapids. Internships are limited and require students to apply and compete for the available slots each summer.
